FAQs
Will I need to provide food or supplies?
On Fido Foster, the featured rescues cover the medical bills, supplies, and food expenses. The rescues can provide materials like collars, crates, bowls, and more. Your job as a foster home is to provide love and care for the dog.
What do I do if I have kids or other animals at home?
All rescues do their own behavior assessments to ensure the dog is safe to be around people and other animals. You can work with dogs that have "meet before fostering" meet and greets available. This way you can ensure the dogs get along and that the foster dog is good with your kids.
How do I choose the length of the foster term?
By partnering with different rescues, Fido Foster is able to match you with the dog that has the foster length that fits your life. All dogs on Fido Foster have a "foster minimum" which is the minium amount of time the rescue will approve for a foster length. Across the dogs, there are foster lengths ranging from 1 day to 3 months.
What do I do if it is not a good fit?
The Fido Foster team and the rescue associated with the foster dog will be happy to answer any questions and support you along the foster process. If it does get to a point where it is no longer feasible to house the foster dog, pick up for the dog will be arranged by the rescue. This will not disqualify your home from fostering in the future.
